The compass capsule is liquid filled and has a floating dial. You will have to make sure the compass is level to get an accurate reading with this style of dial. The built in bubble level will help you keep the unit level and accurate.

It also has a rotating bezel ring for direction finding and the sighting lines on the cover are very useful. For your convenience, there is a conversion chart for angle, gradient and distance on the back plate of the unit.

A very important feature of this unit is that it is waterproof, making it ideal for most outdoor activities. Particularly where the weather can be a factor that for equipment failure.

The compass also has the ability to absorb ambient daylight and then giving off a gentle fluorescent glow, making it easier to use the device in the dark.
